Jersey-grown Peach Pies Take Prizes

Glassboro, NJ (August 24, 2017) New Jersey’s amateur baker “Perfect Peach Pies" were declared “Fabulous and tough to judge,” according to culinary experts who judged submissions at farmers’ markets throughout the State. Finalists go on to compete for two grand prizes of $300 each in southern and northern New Jersey.

Now in their fifth year, the contests are sponsored by the New Jersey Peach Promotion Council, to raise public awareness of the goodness and nutritional value of locally grown peaches. This year, New Jersey ranks second in the country in peach production!

“We’re continuously developing new, and improved varieties,” says Santo John Maccherone, chair of the NJ Peach Promotion Council, “ and, proof of success is in the superb pies being submitted for judging.”
