Jersey ‘Perfect Peach Pie’ Winner Margate Competition

Glassboro, NJ (July 31, 2018) - Sage and Hallee Adelman took first place in Margate Farmers Market “Perfect Peach Pie” competition, sponsored by the New Jersey Peach Promotion Council.

“They beat out 11 other contestants, with some very good entries,” said Jane Martin, manager of the market.

“We learned of the Margate Farmers Market contest from the local paper, downbeach, main line times, and radio KYW,” said Hallee Adelman. She continues, describing her daughter’s entry:

“Fourteen-year-old Sage loves baking, encouraging her family to bake for friends, CHOP fundraisers and for fun. Three years ago when I saw a "peach pie contest" sign at the Margate Farmer's Market, I suggested entering to Sage, but she didn't want to enter because she was too afraid of losing. I convinced her that we should enter together just for fun. On the way to the contest that year, Sage said we should do it every year; our time together was a great prize. And surprise bonus: we won second place. This year, after tweaking our recipe, we won first place. Now we’re excited to enter the state finals with the philosophy: Togetherness is as sweet as New Jersey Peaches.” For Hallee's recipe, go to consumers/recipes

The Jersey Perfect Peach Pie contests continue at farmers markets through August 18, at Pennington Farmers Market. Others are August 4 at downtown Wildwood; Aug 5 at Nutley and Jersey City; August 11 at West Windsor and Brigantine. Farmers market winners will go on to two final competitions -- one for south Jersey; one for north Jersey. Each of those grand winners will receive a check for $300 from the New Jersey Peach Promotion Council.
